Sweetland: Justice?

21 February 2012

Today, in Sweetland (our English role playing activity), the kids debated the punishment for one of the characters. The Child doesn't like school and thinks that the Teacher is boring. So he told the group that he hit her.

The Policewoman and the Teacher/Superhero--as arbiters of justice--protested this treatment and suggested punishments for the Child.

Here are a few treasures from this conversation:

Teacher/Superhero: "You in school for 10 years."
Clown: "No. Choose. 100 years in prison or in the school."
Child: "The prison of the children is the school."

Later...
Child: "I choose the prison. Then, I don't have school."
Policewoman: "No. The teacher go to the prison."

At this point, the Child doesn't like any of his options so...
Child: "I go to another city."
Clown: "No. Sweetland is the only city on the planet."
Child: "I'm in other planet."
Clown: "How? You can't fly. The other Juan* is a superhero, but this one isn't"

*Named changed to protect the identity of the child in question.
