Over the course of the last week, there has been a flurry of
activity on the construction of a display in the lobby of the school.
I finally asked another teacher about what it is. Turns out
it’s the school's belén.
The word belén in Spanish means Bethlehem, and it's the name given to the Nativity scene. The belén is really important in Spain at Christmas. Typically, each city puts together a belén. In fact, there are societies of belenistas responsible for constructing the belén for the respective community.
Some of the parents really get into it! They actually hand-make the parts of the belén.
Ours isn't quite done, but I'll post pictures of it soon!
